Job Description

The Customer Service Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for existing customers through inbound phone calls. In this role, you answer incoming calls, actively listen to understand customer needs or issues, provide first-level support when possible, and accurately route calls to the appropriate internal teams. This position focuses exclusively on supporting current customers and does not involve outbound sales or new customer acquisition.

Responsibilities

  • Answer inbound customer calls promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system or call-routing software.
  • Listen carefully to understand customer questions, concerns, and service needs.
  • Provide first-level support by addressing routine inquiries and resolving straightforward issues during the initial call.
  • Accurately route calls and escalate complex issues to the appropriate internal department or point of contact.
  • Document key details from customer interactions to ensure smooth follow-up and continuity of service.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across multiple departments to help resolve customer issues efficiently.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer focus in every interaction.
  • Use Microsoft Office and other internal systems to access information, update records, and support customer requests.
  • Follow established procedures and service standards to ensure a consistent and positive customer experience.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience supporting existing customers in a service or support environment.
  • Strong customer service and customer support skills, with a focus on active listening and clear communication.
  • Experience handling inbound calls and working on the phone with customers.
  • Ability to manage order-related inquiries and basic order management tasks.
  • Professional demeanor and the ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Familiarity with multi-line phone systems or call-routing software.
  • Experience collaborating with internal teams across multiple departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in a customer-facing role such as customer service, customer support, or service coordination.
  • Comfort working in a structured environment with defined processes and performance expectations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when documenting customer interactions and routing calls.
  • Ability to learn new systems and tools related to call handling and customer support.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional, office-based setting that relies heavily on phone and computer use throughout the day. You will work primarily on inbound calls using a multi-line phone system or call-routing software, while using Microsoft Office and other internal tools to access information and document interactions. The environment is collaborative, with frequent communication across multiple internal departments to resolve customer issues. The position follows a structured schedule aligned with business hours, and you are expected to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while representing the organization to existing customers.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of North Canton, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
