Job Description
Our client, a well-established regional bank serving the New York market, is seeking a Loan Workout Officer to manage and resolve criticized and classified credits. This role is responsible for minimizing loss exposure, negotiating restructuring strategies, and protecting the bank’s asset quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of criticized, classified, and non-performing loans (C&I and CRE loans).
- Conduct detailed financial analysis, cash flow modeling, and collateral evaluation.
- Develop and execute workout strategies, including restructurings, forbearance agreements, modifications, and settlements.
- Negotiate directly with borrowers, guarantors, legal counsel, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare risk ratings, impairment analysis, and regulatory reporting documentation.
- Partner with credit, legal, and senior management to recommend action plans and risk mitigation strategies.
- Monitor restructured loans to ensure compliance with agreed terms.
- Support internal and external audits, regulatory exams, and loan review processes.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in commercial credit, special assets, loan workouts, or restructuring within a banking environment.
- Strong knowledge of C&I and CRE underwriting and documentation.
- Experience with criticized/classified assets and regulatory frameworks (OCC/FDIC/FRB as applicable).
- Proficiency in financial statement analysis and cash flow modeling.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Experience working with legal counsel on enforcement actions and bankruptcy proceedings.
- Familiarity with New York commercial lending market.
