Outside Sales Representative Building Materials
Job Type: Full Time, Direct Hire
Location: Field-based, covering Northern CA with travel throughout the Bay Area and occasionally Southern CA. Work from home when not traveling; no on-site work required.
Pay Rate: $100,000 $130,000 base salary + 20% annual target bonus + car reimbursement program + full benefits
About the Role
We are a national leader in supplying construction products and building materials through distribution partners across the U.S., combining strong customer relationships and entrepreneurial flexibility with the backing of a highly stable parent organization. As an Outside Sales Representative, you will manage and expand an established book of business while aggressively pursuing new accounts to grow market share in Northern California. This role focuses on selling through distribution partners, primarily to lumber yards and hardware stores, while also providing product training and education for end users. You will pioneer new territories, build and strengthen distributor relationships, conduct product presentations, and consistently exceed sales targets. The position is field-based with extensive travel alongside distribution partners, while working from home when not traveling.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of sales experience in distribution-driven industries, preferably building materials
- Experience with lumber yards strongly preferred
- 3+ years of proven cold calling and new territory development success
- Track record of exceeding sales goals and driving market penetration
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and results-driven with a strong hunter mindset
