Landsdown Companies based in Wilmington, NC is hiring for a Sand and Gravel mine supervisor in White Hall, Alabama.
Job Summary:
To supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the plant and Employees, meeting all safety, quality and production targets as indicated by the company.
Main Responsibilities
- Advises the daily activities of employees working in the plant.
- Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.
- Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Ensure the highest standards are achieved and maintained in terms of safety, quality, and efficiency
- Effectively coordinate daily plant operations and staff to ensure safety, regulatory, and production targets are met
- Actively support and lead Company initiatives related to safety and employee development
- Assist with training, coaching and development of employees to perform at their highest level
- Maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and Company business groups
- Use computer system to enter and maintain customer data, prepare reports, and respond to e-mail correspondence
- Communicate and schedule maintenance projects with Manager.
- Coordinate scheduling of plant equipment maintenance
- Order and maintain inventory of spare parts supply.
- Safely operate company equipment, tooling, and vehicles
Education:
- Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required.
Skills:
- 3 or more years of experience in material production operations and/or similar role
- 2 or more years of experience in a supervisory role preferred
- Must be dependable, punctual and have a strong work ethic
- Other job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: working in a safe manner, record keeping, training, production, quality control, loading and unloading of products that are produced at the facility, maintaining equipment, and many other duties as the need arise.
- Ability to effectively prioritize, problem-solve, and work under consistent pressure of deadlines
- Basic computer skills, including use of MS Office products
Physical Requirements:
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects, communicate (talk and hear), stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery
- Occasionally required to work from heights
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions and loud noises; including some exposure to fumes or airborne particles
