About the Company
Santa Rita Jail (SRJ), located in Dublin, California, is a large, medium-security facility operated by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office that houses approximately 4,500 pre-trial and sentenced inmates.
About the Role
We are in need of an on-site, full-time, Medical Assistant (MA) to work Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm, at our Santa Rita Jail site in Dublin, CA. Our preference is for someone who is local or driving distance from Alameda County.
Responsibilities
- Learn and proficiently use systems such as Clinician's Gateway (progress notes), COR EMR (medical site), ATIMS (custody system), and CHRS (scheduling system).
- Facilitate telehealth services via Microsoft Teams for Physicians and other providers, collaborating closely with custody staff to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Manage the clinic flow efficiently for both in person and telehealth services, ensuring timely patient care and provider support.
- Triage referrals from ACSO and Wellpath, consult with MDs/NPs as necessary, and document progress notes in the electronic medical record system.
- Schedule patient follow-up appointments and add mental health diagnoses to COR EMR as directed.
- Act as a liaison between Mental health and Medical Services to facilitate treatment and diagnosis communication.
- Create responses to inmate requests and provide patient training when appropriate.
- Review pharmacy reports for expiring medications, contact providers for renewals, and ensure smooth medication management for federal inmate transfers.
- Function as a REMS (Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy) program designee for MDs and NPs.
- Translate for bilingual staff as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Medical Assistant Diploma from an approved school/institution or equivalent documented training.
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assisting experience.
- BLS - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association).
Required Skills
- Strong organization and communication skills to manage referrals, scheduling, and medication coordination.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a high-security and sensitive environment.
- Highly motivated and professional.
Preferred Skills
- Medical Assistant Certificate
- Previous experience in correctional setting, psych/behavioral health, or community health.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Previous tele-health support.
- Experience with specialty EMRs or government systems.
Pay range and compensation package
$30/hour + Medical benefits.
