General Definition of Work
Performs difficult administrative work maintaining and analyzing various financial records, compiling reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Deputy Tax Commissioner.

Essential Functions
Performs accounting related duties in areas including but not limited to tax collection, distribution, accounts receivable, audits and other related areas.
Performs maintenance on all general ledger accounts including account analyses and reconciliation.
Assists with the preparation and posting of monthly journal entries; approves all journal entries prepared by Accounting Associates and Accounting Specialists.
Assists with yearly balancing and performing the soft close of the general ledger and the preparation of annual financial statements and reports.
Prepares supporting documentation and schedules for the annual audit of Tax Commissioner operations.
Prepares monthly and quarterly reports for financial analysis as appropriate and directed.
Prepares reports and provides information as requested by other governmental entities in Coweta County, and/or the State of Georgia
May perform work of an Accounting Associate or Accounting Specialist or other staff as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the theory, principles, methods and practices of accounting; thorough knowledge of the laws, ordinances and regulations governing financial matters; thorough knowledge of modern office methods, practices and equipment; ability to prepare and maintain complex financial reports and records; ability to analyze and evaluate complex financial systems; ability to express complex and technical ideas effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to supervise subordinate staff; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, external agencies, associates and the general public.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree with coursework in accounting, finance, or related field and considerable experience in bookkeeping or accounting, including experience with Quick Books or similar related software with some supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; no special vocal communication skills are required; no special hearing perception is required; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a quiet location (e.g. library, private offices).
Special Requirements
Favorable background history as determined by review of local, State and Federal records.
Valid driver’s license in the State of Georgia with a favorable driving history (MVR).
