Prevailance is seeking an experienced and mission-focused professional to serve as Senior Future Surface Force Tactics Support for the Commander Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC). In this role, you will provide tactical and operational expertise to enhance the readiness and effectiveness of the Surface Force across multiple warfare domains. Travel may be required for this position.
SMWDC’s mission is realized through four primary lines of operation:
- Advanced Tactical Training
- Doctrine and Tactical Guidance Development
- Operational Support
- Capability Assessment, Experimentation, and Requirements
The Senior Future Surface Force Tactics Support Analyst will be instrumental in supporting SMWDC’s mission across individual, unit-level, and group instruction; training assessments; the Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) program; and the development or update of operational or tactical doctrine.
Support services for SMWDC are required across multiple sites, including:
- SMWDC Headquarters (HQ) in San Diego, CA
- Mine Warfare (MIW) Division, San Diego, CA
- Sea Combat (SC) Division, San Diego, CA
- Integrated Air & Missile Defense (IAMD) Division, Dahlgren, VA
- Amphibious Warfare (AMW) Division, Little Creek, VA
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Provide expert-level guidance in tactical training and operational support for future force readiness
- Evaluate fleet readiness and assess warfighting capabilities across the Surface Warfare, Anti-submarine Warfare, Amphibious Warfare, Mine Warfare, and Integrated Air & Missile Defense domains
- Support the review, development, and updating of tactical publications and operational requirements
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative assessments of warfighting readiness, capabilities, and capacity to inform decision-making
- Collaborate with various commands to advance SMWDC’s strategic objectives in Surface Warfare tactics and doctrine
Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of recent experience in one of the following roles:
- A Qualified Surface Warfare Officer (SWO)
- A Naval Aviator with at least 10 years of service and demonstrated experience in Surface Warfare and/or Surface Staff assignments
- A Marine Corps Officer with documented experience supporting Naval Surface Warfare staff operations
- A Non-Commissioned Officer (Chief Petty Officer or above) with a minimum of 15 years of experience and a strong background in the Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP) and Naval Surface Training
- Minimum of 12 years of recent experience with the surface Navy’s combat systems, C5I, networks, and weapons systems- At least 5 years of this experience shall be as military personnel
- At least 10 years of recent experience as a Qualified SWO, 10-year Naval Aviator with Surface Warfare/Staff Experience, Marine Corps Officer with Naval Surface Staff Experience and proven knowledge of OFRP and Naval Surface Training, or Non-Commissioned Officer (Chief Petty Officer or Above) with 15+ Years Experience with proven knowledge of OFRP and Naval Surface Training
- At least 5 years of recent experience in strategic writing in policies, memorandums, and long-range planning objectives
- At least 3 years of recent experience in the Surface Community or with training entities inside the Naval Optimized Fleet Response Plan
- At least 5 years’ experience with Combat Systems components and instructions
- At least 5 years’ experience with Command and Control issues, regarding surveillance, engagement and planning functions required for each of the various numbered fleets
- Experience with Staff and Fleet operations and planning procedures
- Possess knowledge and operational understanding of the OFRP cycle and Navy Surface training processes

- Experience in a Navy 3-Star Command Staff, contributing to high-level tactical and operational decisions
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative assessment methods for evaluating warfighting readiness and capabilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word
- Strong analytical skills to assess and improve tactical training and operational strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities for interfacing with Navy leadership and cross-functional teams
Security Clearance:
- Maintain an active Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility
