Job Description

Job DescriptionDescription:

About CRI:

Over the past 30+ years, CRI has partnered with countless companies to create workplaces that become ecosystems for imagination, inspiration, and ideas.

In the landscape of ever-changing office design, we strive to create resilient workplaces that become launch pads for teams to feel excited, motivated, and encouraged to do their best work.

Our expertise is built upon a solid foundation of workplace strategy and furniture design, project management, and client advocacy. We are passionate about our values and strive to be an example of excellence in all that we do.

About the Role:

As a CRI Designer, you will turn strategy and intent into precise, orderable documentation. You’ll lead CAD deliverables that enable space plans, specifications, electrical/data layouts, and installation packages – while collaborating with Sales, Project Management, Ancillary/Workplace Strategy, vendors, A&D partners, and field teams. You’ll own the technical integrity of drawings and specs, validate code and site constraints, and present clear, client ready documentation that makes downstream work (pricing, ordering, installation) seamless.

This role is eligible for our Flexible Workplace policy, where there is an expectation to work from our San Francisco office minimum of 3 day a week after successful completion of the Introductory Performance Period.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Acknowledge and triage Creative Services Requests (CSR); confirming scope, deadline, and deliverables.
  • Attend “Kick-off”, internal & client meetings, and site visits/field measures to capture requirements, constraints, and opportunities.
  • Track tasks, milestones, and design hours; keeping shared trackers up to date.
  • Develop block/space plans and iterate to gain client approvals.
  • Create polished design visuals: 2D drawings and 3D renderings to help teams & clients understand the proposed solution.
  • Lead and assist finish selection collaboration with Product Application & Design; prepare finish sheets/boards that communicate intent.
  • Produce working/installation drawings that are precise, coordinated, and orderable.
  • Validate compliance by checking plans against construction, electrical engineering, and A&D drawings; confirm ADA/egress clearances and applicable code considerations.
  • Own Electrical/Data layouts for furniture systems with recommended locations and types.
  • Generate product specifications (e.g., CAP/CET/etc.) which are tagged correctly and audited for accuracy, so procurement and installation teams have exactly what they need.
  • Create packages for stakeholders that include client-ready documentation with organized deliverables for clarity (file structure, naming conventions, versions).
  • Manage revisions with discipline by maintaining drawing files, change logs, and spec updates; communicate impacts on schedule/budget and keep the team aligned.
  • Participate in mock-ups and punch walks conducted in the field for verification and punch-list reviews with Field PMs/PMs; translate site findings into updates that protect design intent.
  • Document lessons learned and share improvements with Creative Services peers.
  • Stay current with product updates, discontinuations, technology, and trends; nurture vendor relationships and visit showrooms as needed.
  • Elevate team craft by contributing standards, tips, and best practices examples; present learnings at Design team meetings.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in contract furniture, including order preparation, project management, and seamless delivery/installation processes.
  • In-depth understanding of interior design principles, space planning, and technical drawings.
  • Strong awareness of workplace trends such as wellness, technology integration, and collaboration strategies.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective interaction with diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment in business transactions.
  • A passion for exceeding client expectations and delivering transformative workplace experiences.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD) and related 3D design software.
  • Preferred expertise in industry-standard tools such as CET, CAP, SketchUp, and Revit.

CRI’s Values:

  • Be a Good Human – Be kind, be respectful, be positive. Have fun and always do the right thing.
  • Be the Best Teammate – Roll up your sleeves, share the wins and problem solve collaboratively.
  • Be Inquisitive – Find the why, value learning. Each day is an opportunity to be better.
  • Be a Design Thinker – From strategy to operations, question, ideate and solve with empathy.
  • Lead by example. – Go above and beyond. Expect the best of yourself and each other every day.
  • Be yourself. – Live our values with your personality. We want you to be you!
