Job Description

The Quality Inspector performs detailed in-process inspections of sheet metal parts in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role focuses on verifying that welds, punched holes, angles, and bend allowances meet blueprint specifications, using precision measuring tools and clear documentation to ensure consistent product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process inspections of sheet metal parts throughout the production cycle.
  • Inspect welds, punched holes, angles, bends, and bend allowances to ensure they meet required specifications.
  • Compare parts to blueprints and technical drawings to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools to measure and validate parts.
  • Inspect both finished parts and in-process parts on the assembly line.
  • Document inspection results accurately and clearly, following established procedures.
  • Identify nonconforming parts and communicate findings to appropriate production or quality personnel.
  • Support continuous production by performing timely inspections to minimize delays and rework.
  • Work effectively in an assembly line and production setting, maintaining a steady workflow.
  • Follow all safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements while on the production floor.
  • Participate in on-site interviews and plant tours, demonstrating understanding of grinding, assembly line work, and overtime expectations.
  • Show motivation and interest in long-term growth opportunities within the organization.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with calipers and micrometers for precision measurement.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Background in quality inspection within a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience inspecting sheet metal parts, including welds, bends, and holes.
  • Ability to inspect both finished and in-process sheet metal parts.
  • Familiarity with using inspection tools and methods appropriate for sheet metal components.
  • Ability to stand for 10-hour shifts and work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Comfort working on an assembly line and in a production setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document inspection findings accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Sheet metal inspection experience preferred.
  • Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) is a plus.
  • Interest in advancing skills in areas such as welding or engineering through company-supported education.
  • Willingness to work mandatory overtime with advance notice when required.
  • Comfort with grinding and related fabrication processes.
  • Motivation for long-term employment and growth within a large manufacturing organization.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very clean, large-scale manufacturing facility that spans multiple buildings. The environment is an assembly line and production setting with a focus on sheet metal fabrication and inspection. The facility is not air-conditioned, so candidates should be comfortable working in varying temperatures. The campus operates as a smoke-free environment, with no designated smoking areas and no leaving the campus during paid breaks. Shifts are structured across multiple schedules, including first, second, third, and weekend shifts, with occasional Saturdays and mandatory overtime as needed and communicated in advance. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel-toed boots, eye protection, and ear protection, but no physical exam, medical clearance, certifications, or forklift operation are required. The work involves standing for most of a 10-hour shift and working closely with production teams in a high-volume manufacturing setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Anoka, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $34.00/hr.
