Minimum 1+ years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Support students with diverse and profound needs in a K-12 educational setting in Chimayo, NM. This full-time contract position runs from August 5, 2025, through May 29, 2026, serving inclusion classrooms and resource/learning centers. Primary assignments are at the high school and elementary levels, supporting students with severe disabilities and behavioral, functional, and adaptive challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist classroom teachers in inclusion and resource settings across elementary, middle, and high school grades
• Provide one-on-one and group support to students with a range of severe disabilities and behavioral needs
• Implement behavior management strategies to support positive student outcomes
• Help motivate and engage students during instructional activities
• Support learning of foundational skills such as letter names and sounds
• De-escalate students exhibiting challenging behaviors during instruction
• Participate in additional training opportunities as needed (e.g., CPI, Braille)

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid New Mexico drivers license required
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a mandated Educational Assistant license and/or Substitute Teacher license (candidates may begin work while certification is in process)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with children with disabilities and/or behavioral challenges in an educational setting
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on supporting diverse learners
