Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with a valid CA RN license and at least 2 years of recent ER experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position is in the Emergency Room (ER) of an acute care hospital
  • Level III trauma center treating both adult and pediatric populations, with trauma, stroke, and STEMI patients
  • 32 ER beds, 6 treatment chairs, 4-bed fast track, and dedicated psych rooms
  • Patient volumes range from 208 to 317 per day, with nurse-patient ratios of 1:4, or 1:1-2 for ICU status
  • Phillips telemetry equipment is used, and nurses are responsible for cardiac monitoring
  • Cerner is the EMR system used
  • Navy scrubs are required
  • 12-hour evening shifts (3p-3a), with every other weekend required
  • Must float to Arroyo Grande ER as needed
  • On-unit orientation provided (3 shifts)
  • ER techs, CNAs, and EMTs provide support on the unit
  • Charge nurse and assistant nurse manager are present 24/7 and do not take patient assignments
  • Security staff and patient sitters are available as needed
  • Nurses do not perform lab draws; pharmacy and respiratory therapy are available 24/7
  • RNs will participate in perm staff holiday rotation
  • Travel experience is preferred
  • First-time travelers will be considered
  • Must pass required clinical testing and orientation modules

\n \n Requirements\n

  • Active CA RN license is required at time of submission
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent ER nursing experience is required
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination
  • TNCC certification is preferred
  • Must provide a copy of driver’s license for consideration
  • 2 professional references required (one supervisor reference from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years)
  • Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips
  • Experience with Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry equipment preferred
