Reports To: Snow Operations Supervisor / Fleet Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking reliable and safety-focused individuals to join our Winter Operations Team as Plow Truck Drivers and Salt Truck Operators. This role is critical in maintaining safe roadways, parking lots, and pedestrian areas during snow and ice events. Operators will be responsible for clearing snow and applying de-icing materials using specialized trucks and equipment, often during inclement weather and outside regular business hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate plow trucks and salt spreaders to clear snow and ice from roads, lots, and walkways
- Monitor weather conditions and respond promptly to snow events, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Safely maneuver vehicles in low visibility, slippery conditions, and high-traffic areas
- Load salt and other de-icing materials into spreaders and ensure proper application rates
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and routine maintenance checks
- Maintain accurate logs of routes, materials used, and hours worked
- Communicate with dispatch and supervisors regarding progress, hazards, and equipment issues
- Assist with snow removal using shovels or other equipment when necessary
✅ Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license (CDL Class B or higher preferred)
- Experience operating snow plows, salt spreaders, or other heavy-duty vehicles
- Familiarity with local roads and snow routes is a plus
- Ability to work flexible, irregular hours during snow emergencies
- Strong understanding of winter driving safety and equipment handling
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and operate machinery for extended periods
- Lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual snow removal tasks when needed
- Tolerate exposure to cold, wind, snow, and ice for long durations
Preferred Skills
- Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshooting
- GPS or route tracking system experience
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Prior municipal or commercial snow removal experience
