Working on the Neuro Cardiac Unit, you’ll encounter a diverse mix of complex Med/Surg and Telemetry patients, ranging from post-cardiac cath recoveries to oncology and neuro cases. This assignment offers invaluable opportunities to enhance your clinical expertise, learn from experienced charge nurses, and adapt to a teaching hospital environment. Exposure to multiple campuses and unique patient populations will elevate your leadership and critical thinking skills, making a significant impact on your resume.
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour day shifts (6:30 – 7:00)
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week (option for 48 upon request)
- Three weekends out of every six weeks
- Every other holiday
- Bi-weekly orientation start dates (6/1 or 6/15)
- Floating: First within your skillset (between nearby campuses), with advance notice
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Active and current compact RN license
- 2+ years of recent strong Tele/Med/Surg experience (Trauma Level II)
- Completed at least 1 travel assignment
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Recent EPIC charting experience (checkoff required)
- AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications (must be submitted)
- Strong neuro assessment, dysphagia screen, and telemetry/12-lead EKG skills
- Drip titration (Insulin, cardiac, Heparin, heart cath recovery)
- Preferred: NG/PEG tubes, PIV insertion, chest tube skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality patient care to a diverse and complex patient population
- Perform accurate, timely charting in EPIC
- Exhibit strong clinical judgment and adaptability
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and mentor students or new hires if needed
- Participate actively in cross-campus teamwork and patient-centered care
