MAC FCU, a division of Credit Union 1, is looking for a Member Service Representative to join our team. The MSR is responsible for building personal connections with new and existing members of the credit union. This role acts as an integral subsequent touch point and will be expected to assist members with their inquiries in an accurate, professional, and timely manner. Represents our MAC FCU brand by identifying service and product needs with quality and care.

This position is located on-site at our Ft. Wainwright & 10th Ave. Branch. MSR's may be expected to travel and cover other branches within our Fairbanks network.

Pay Range: $19.78/hr. - $29.67/hr.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Professionally initiate contact with members with prompt, efficient, courteous, and professional service.
  • Manage the transfer of information by researching member requests.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of member-facing departments to respond to member requests and inquiries.
  • Assist members with completing transactions and services by providing both transactional and account-opening services.
  • Maintain knowledge of all primary deposit and lending products and services. Cross-sell products and services and educate members on the use of remote services.
  • Maintain effective communication with all Credit Union employees to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing Credit Union goals.
  • To attain Credit Union goals, it is the responsibility of each employee to strive for the continuous improvement of processes and quality of service.
  • Adhere to MAC FCU policy and procedure as well as all federal, state, and government regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: One (1) year to three (3) years of similar or related experience. A high school education or GED.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position involves primarily sedentary work, requiring the ability to sit, stand, and bend with minimal physical exertion. Occasional lifting of items up to 20 pounds may be necessary. In emergency situations, the ability to climb and descend stairs is required.

The role involves frequent use of standard office equipment, including computers, keyboards, telephones, copiers, fax machines, and calculators. Candidates must be able to work on a computer for extended periods, typically 6 to 8 hours per day, as needed.

Flexibility to work extended hours or travel off-site may be required at the request of management. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is essential.

Work is typically performed indoors in a quiet, climate-controlled office environment.

Mental and/or emotional requirements:

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team, is essential. Candidates must be able to read and follow both written and verbal instructions accurately. Basic math skills, correct spelling, and a foundational understanding of computers are required.

Clear and effective verbal communication is important, with the ability to present information logically and understandably. The role requires professionalism and composure when interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds, both within and outside the organization. A strong commitment to exceptional member service and discretion is expected.

Candidates must be able to manage stress effectively while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy and quality in a fast-paced environment. The ability to prioritize and handle multiple, shifting responsibilities is critical. Discretion and confidentiality, both internally and externally, must be upheld at all times.

Please note: Credit Union 1 & MAC does not provide relocation assistance. If selected for an on-site position, candidates will be responsible for relocating to Alaska prior to the agreed upon start date at their own expense.
