Chief Executive Officer Advanced Photonics & Quantum Manufacturing

A newly acquired, high-tech manufacturing company at the forefront of photonics and quantum applications is seeking a dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its next phase of transformation and expansion.

The role is ideally positioned for an existing CEO or an ambitious COO, General manager or managing Director looking to step up into a CEO role.


Location & Working Style

  • Primary Location: Montana
  • Working Model: Hybrid (approx. 75% on-site once familiar with operations)
  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week

Role Overview

As CEO, you will lead the company through a period of strategic change, integrating it into a broader group structure while enhancing operational excellence and commercial performance. You will be responsible for P&L management, strategic planning, and commercial leadership across North American operations, with a strong focus on product development, delivery, and profitability.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a technology-rich environment, ideal for someone who thrives on innovation, transformation, and building high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to drive growth and profitability
  • Lead integration and change management initiatives across the business
  • Oversee daily operations, product development, and delivery
  • Manage financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Build and mentor a senior leadership team aligned with group values
  • Represent the company to key stakeholders, partners, and customers
  • Collaborate with group leadership to shape broader commercial strategy

Candidate Profile

Were looking for a seasoned executive with:

  • 5+ years in senior leadership within advanced manufacturing, photonics, or quantum-related industries
  • Proven success in business strategy, financial management, and team leadership
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience with product development and market introduction
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A relevant technical degree (e.g., Physics, Optics, Materials Science)
  • Proficiency in business systems (MRP, CRM, financial software)

Desirable Experience

  • M&A integration and scaling of acquired businesses
  • Background in quantum science applications
  • Familiarity with US Government innovation programs (SBIR, STTR)
  • Experience in defence-related program delivery
  • Knowledge of nonlinear optical materials (e.g., PPLN/PPKTP)
  • Multilingual capabilities (German, French, Spanish, or Chinese)
  • Postgraduate qualifications
