Light Construction Assistant
Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, founded in 1967, is the nation’s first community development corporation nestled in the heart of Central Brooklyn in Bed-Stuy. About the Role
This individual will assist the maintenance dept. in maintaining RDC Commercials office spaces. The Light Construction Assistant will work as an assistant to general laborers, assist in carpentry, painting, and plumbing etc. Assist in moving supplies, site cleanup and occasional admin support. Also, all other duties assigned by Management.
Key Responsibilities
∙ Maintained safety conditions and standards in the facility.
∙ Routine check all buildings and ensure buildings are locked and properly secure. ∙ Perform routine vertical patrols inside aforementioned buildings, document any and all abnormalities with a notification to management if warranted.
∙ Respond to “Off Hours” contact intercom systems to acknowledge and provide responses as needed.
∙ Work with other maintenance staff on special in-house projects. Follow proper handling procedures for chemical cleaning and power equipment usage
∙ Replace ceiling tiles and light bulbs as needed
∙ Perform basic repairs to plumbing systems such as snake out drain sewer and waste line as needed, replace broken locks etc.
∙ Knowledge of record-keeping heating and cooling in buildings.
∙ Survey the HVAC system following guidelines with required tasks
o Identified when the roof HVAC units are not operational and report it to the supervisors o Reduced downtime by preventative maintenance that will extend the life of machinery and equipment.
∙ Must be able to frequently lift and carry materials as needed
∙ Ability to work independently to accomplish the repair task
∙ Working with a supervisor using a power equipment and tools
∙ Works very well as a strong part of a team.
∙ OSHA Safety Requirement
o Require to climb ladder and basic roof repair work
o Ability to use power tools on site for repair work
o Drill and installed cable line as needed for tenants
o Make minor carpentry, electrical, and plumbing repair work.
Minimum Qualification:
Trade Diploma or High School Diploma
7 + years’ experience in the maintenance field and or Light Construction Any Trade Certification

Salary Range:
