The City of Webster Groves, Missouri , a predominantly residential community located in southeastern St. Louis County, seeks a proven and inclusive fire services leader to direct the activities of its fire department. The City, designated a “Tree City USA” by the Arbor Day Foundation, and listed as one of the “Ten Best Cities for Families” by Family Circle in 2008, has a population of 22,995 and is six (6) square miles. The fire department has 38 firefighter-paramedics and provides services from two firehouses.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Extensive, twelve (12) years or more, professional experience in fire and emergency medical service (EMS), with a minimum of five (5) years at the rank of captain or higher.
- Strong background in fire services administration to include collaborative leadership, financial management of departmental budgets, planning, directing and controlling department operations, including but not limited to equipment, apparatus, and personnel.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in Fire Science, Public Administration or closely related field.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Graduation from St. Louis County Fire Academy certified as Firefighter I & II, Fire Officer I & II
- Fire Instructor I
- Certified Fire Investigator and Fire Inspector.
- Required license: EMT or paramedic, licensed in the State of Missouri.
Compensation and Benefits
Expected hiring range is between $132,000 and $163,000, with consideration for qualifications and experience. The City provides an excellent benefits package, including participation in the Missouri LAGERS pension program at the L-11 level (4% of salary per year of service, 5 year vesting period).
