Job Overview
Reporting to the Director of Finance (CFO), this Controller role is responsible for leading and coordinating the North America finance function within a $40–50M manufacturing organisation. The role oversees accounting operations, cost accounting, financial reporting, audits, budgeting, cash management, and compliance activities, while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong internal controls across the finance team.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the finance team responsible for accounting and financial data processing
- Monitor all aspects of accounting functions and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
- Oversee inventory control procedures
- Lead the financial statement audit process
- Prepare annual budgets for submission to the parent company
- Compile management and statutory financial reports
- Administer foreign currency transactions
- Manage cash flow and cash management processes
- Oversee accounts receivable management
- Prepare property tax and NAFTA-related filings
- Produce financial and operational reports for parent company
- Analyse financial and operational data as required
- Support costing activities and financial analysis
- Assist in development and maintenance of organisational KPIs
- Issue instructions, assign duties, and review team outputs for accuracy and compliance
- Standardise and improve internal accounting procedures and efficiency
- Perform other duties as required
Experience
- 4+ years’ experience as a Controller handling full accounting records
- 2–3 years’ Cost Accounting experience
- 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience in roles such as Staff Accountant or Financial Analyst
- Strong understanding of internal controls and GAAP
- Experience with ERP systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred but not essential
- Experience managing accounting functions for a $40–50M organisation
Salary/Package
Up to $165,000 per annum + benefits
Location
Sparta, Wisconsin (On-site, 5 days per week)
