A Substance Abuse Counselor at a rehabilitation center provides support, guidance, and treatment to individuals struggling with addiction. They assess patients, and offer counseling to help clients recover and maintain sobriety. (Shift: Tuesday thru Saturday 3-11pm)

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct Initial intakes to evaluate and begin the process of treating substance abuse and mental health conditions.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions.
• Educate clients about addiction, coping strategies, and relapse prevention.
• Monitor client progress and report to Program Manager as necessary.
• Collaborate with medical professionals, therapist, and support staff.
• Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with confidentiality and regulatory requirements.
• Assist clients in accessing community resources and aftercare programs.
• Facilitate workshops, support groups, and life skills training.
• Obtain a Class C with passenger endorsement upon hire with expenses paid.
• Drive the clients to outside alumni and 12-step meetings.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Certification or licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor. (CADC I/II) or a RADT enrolled in school.
• Experience working in addiction recovery or mental health counseling preferred but not necessary.
• Strong communication, empathy, and crisis intervention skills.
• Knowledge of treatment modalities such as CBT, DBT, and 12-step programs.
• Evidenced based trainings (ASAM, CBT, Living in Balance, Relapse Prevention, Trauma informed) helpful.
