Boilermaker/Welder Structural Supervisor

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Boilermaker/Welder Structural Supervisor with strong NAVSEA experience to oversee structural maintenance and repairs aboard NAVSEA vessels. The ideal candidate will have proven supervisory experience, extensive knowledge of ship structural systems, welding proficiency, and the ability to conduct thorough Initial Compartment Inspections (ICI) at the start of drydock periods, identifying, documenting, and annotating structural damage and repair needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise structural repair teams consisting of boilermakers, welders, and shipfitters.
  • Conduct and oversee Initial Compartment Inspections (ICI) during vessel drydocking, documenting structural conditions, corrosion, damage, and required repairs.
  • Clearly annotate and communicate inspection findings to management, QA teams, and production personnel.
  • Ensure structural repair and maintenance projects comply with NAVSEA specifications and internal quality standards.
  • Coordinate with QA Inspectors and project managers to maintain detailed inspection and repair records.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in structural maintenance/repair within a NAVSEA shipyard environment.
  • Hands-on experience conducting Initial Compartment Inspections (ICI), including accurate documentation of structural conditions, defects, and repair recommendations.
  • Proficient welding knowledge (certified welding experience strongly preferred) and structural repair expertise on NAVSEA vessels.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA standards, WAF processes, and compartment inspection documentation procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal certification or training in welding (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW).
  • Prior experience managing or coordinating structural inspections and repairs aboard U.S. Navy vessels.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and NAVSEA structural guidelines effectively.
