Job DescriptionChemical Technician
Pay rate: $22.00
Under the direction of the Chemist, responsible for generating routine assay data at a laboratory in support of exploration, mining, leaching, SXEW process, and cathode production.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Exhibit 100% dedication to safe work practices 100% of the time in the laboratory.
  • Help ensure environmental compliance in the Laboratory.
  • Be able to effectively multitask in a high-workload, fast-paced lab environment.
  • Plan and control analytical work to effectively utilize resources with minimum or no direction.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage and report data.
  • Organize, weigh, digest, dilute, and assay blast hole samples as required for total copper determination.
  • Identify parts, material, supplies, and equipment required to ensure continuous operation.
  • Assist as directed with analysis of blast hole samples for sequential acid-soluble/cyanide soluble copper determination.
  • Handle laboratory cleanup and routine reagent preparation as needed/directed.
  • Maintain required training in environmental, health/safety awareness.
  • Ensure all MSHA requirements are met and help review and update all laboratory safety procedures as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Technical knowledge of mining, leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning processes is highly desirable.
  • Competent in routine laboratory techniques and common laboratory equipment used for blast hole analysis, and aqueous SXEW sample analyses are highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with common sample preparation techniques used in support of mining operations is highly desirable.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with employees, other supervisors, and managers.
  • Must have excellent computer skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • AA Degree in Chemistry or Metallurgy, or a high school diploma with one year of minimum experience in a mining/production laboratory.
  • Experience with general laboratory techniques, MS Office, and data entry.
