Job DescriptionChemical Technician
Pay rate: $22.00
Under the direction of the Chemist, responsible for generating routine assay data at a laboratory in support of exploration, mining, leaching, SXEW process, and cathode production.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Help ensure environmental compliance in the Laboratory.
- Be able to effectively multitask in a high-workload, fast-paced lab environment.
- Plan and control analytical work to effectively utilize resources with minimum or no direction.
- Effectively and efficiently manage and report data.
- Organize, weigh, digest, dilute, and assay blast hole samples as required for total copper determination.
- Identify parts, material, supplies, and equipment required to ensure continuous operation.
- Assist as directed with analysis of blast hole samples for sequential acid-soluble/cyanide soluble copper determination.
- Handle laboratory cleanup and routine reagent preparation as needed/directed.
- Maintain required training in environmental, health/safety awareness.
- Ensure all MSHA requirements are met and help review and update all laboratory safety procedures as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Technical knowledge of mining, leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning processes is highly desirable.
- Competent in routine laboratory techniques and common laboratory equipment used for blast hole analysis, and aqueous SXEW sample analyses are highly desirable.
- Familiarity with common sample preparation techniques used in support of mining operations is highly desirable.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with employees, other supervisors, and managers.
- Must have excellent computer skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- AA Degree in Chemistry or Metallurgy, or a high school diploma with one year of minimum experience in a mining/production laboratory.
- Experience with general laboratory techniques, MS Office, and data entry.
