Job Description:
Garfield Wellness and Recovery Center is an Adult Residential Treatment Program that specializes in the treatment and rehabilitation of clients with mental health illness. The facility is developed for the purpose of providing non-medical treatment and rehabilitation services to 18 to 59-year-old adult mental health patients with chronic mental illness. The SRF will provide rehabilitation services that will help reduce clients’ readmissions or return to acute care facilities, hospitals, or institutions. The goal of the SRF program is to assist clients in reentering and functioning independently in their respective communities.
Under the direction and supervision of the Administrator, the Mental Health Technician/Direct Care Staff performs a variety of programs and social activities in the SRF, and performs related work as required.
- Facilitate and conduct rehabilitation activities as directed by the Administrator.
- Conduct group social activities and exercises with clients.
- Prepare meals for the clients.

- Night Shift Responsibilities include conducting and documenting Q15 safety checks on up to six clients, providing line-of-sight supervision for awake clients, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment through positive social interactions. Additional duties involve light housekeeping and maintenance tasks to keep the facility clean and orderly, preparing breakfast according to the weekly menu plan, completing accurate daily progress notes and incident reports, and delivering a thorough handoff to the incoming day shift staff.
Supervision Received:
The Mental Health Technician/Direct Care Staff receives supervision and directions from the Administrator.
Supervision Exercised:
None.
Duties:
- Facilitate and conduct rehabilitation activities as directed by the Administrator.
- Conduct group social activities and exercises with clients.
- Prepare meals for the clients.
- Keep records and prepare written reports on incidents.
- Communicate the SRF rules and objectives to clients, document and immediately report noncompliance to the Administrator.
- Monitor and maintain a line of sight on all clients to ensure their safety.
- Report any sign of pre-crisis behavior to the Administrator.
- Ensure that clients take their medications on time or in accordance with the direction of a licensed nurse.
- May participate in clients’ assessments and evaluations, crisis counseling, case management, safety maintenance, referrals, chart recording, and other duties as directed.
- May accompany clients to offsite community resources or events.
Educational Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or possess a GED.
Experience:
- Minimum of one year of full-time work experience providing direct care and supervision to clients with mental health illness.
License Certification Required:
- CPR Certification Required.
- Driver license (and good driving record, for insurance purposes)
Must pass physical health and drug screening tests and must pass criminal background check.
