Job DescriptionOnboarding Specialist (HR Operations) - Contract | New York City

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Onboarding Specialist on behalf of our client in the New York City area. This is a contract opportunity for an HR professional with strong HR operations and onboarding experience, ready to support a fast-paced team and ensure a seamless new hire experience from day one.

This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, process-driven, and passionate about creating structured, positive onboarding experiences.

Position Overview

The Onboarding Specialist will manage and execute the end-to-end onboarding process, serving as a liaison between HR, hiring managers, IT, and new employees. This individual will ensure all administrative, compliance, and logistical components of onboarding are handled efficiently and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full onboarding lifecycle for new hires
  • Coordinate pre-employment documentation and HR operations processes
  • Facilitate background checks and employment verification procedures
  • Ensure accurate completion of compliance documentation and employee records
  • Partner with HR and hiring managers to schedule orientations and onboarding meetings
  • Coordinate IT setup and equipment requests for new employees
  • Prepare onboarding materials and communicate company policies and expectations
  • Track onboarding milestones and maintain HRIS records
  • Provide timely communication to new hires to foster engagement and clarity

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in HR operations
  • Direct experience managing employee onboarding processes
  • Familiarity with coordinating or overseeing background checks
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience improving or streamlining onboarding workflows
  • Experience working in a high-volume HR environment
  • Comfort navigating HR systems and tracking compliance documentation

Pay Details: $25.00 to $28.00 per hour
