Bilingual Industrial Rehabilitation Technician
Job Description
Job Description
Bilingual Industrial Rehabilitation Technician
Location: Silver Spring, MD (On-site) | Job Type: Full-Time
Language Requirement: Fluency in Spanish & English (Required)
The Opportunity: Restore Function, Rebuild Lives
At Metropolitan Occupational Therapy, we specialize in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation with a deep commitment to treating every patient as an individual, not just a diagnosis. We are seeking a dedicated Bilingual Industrial Rehabilitation Technician to join our Silver Spring team and support our vital Work Hardening and Conditioning programs.
This is a hands-on role perfect for a high-energy "Self-Starter" who wants to move away from traditional labor (construction, fitness, or warehouse) and enter a rewarding healthcare career where you help injured workers—many of whom are primary Spanish speakers—regain the strength to return to their livelihoods.
What You’ll Do
- Bilingual Patient Advocacy: Serve as a critical communication bridge by providing immediate safety cues and task instructions in both Spanish and English.
- Work Simulation Mastery: Prepare and break down specialized stations designed to mimic demanding real-world labor tasks like lifting, carrying, and climbing.
- Active Safety Monitoring: Observe patients during labor-intensive tasks to ensure proper body mechanics and prevent further injury.
- Clinical Flow Support: Help navigate patients through their scheduled circuit of activities to maintain a consistent, efficient clinic environment.
- Therapist Collaboration: Assist our licensed Occupational and Physical Therapists with equipment maintenance and documentation for recovery plans.
- Safety Stewardship: Keep treatment and simulation areas organized, clean, and hazard-free according to clinical standards.
Who You Are
- Fluent in Spanish & English (Required): You can comfortably translate technical safety cues to ensure our Spanish-speaking community receives the highest quality of care.
- Action-Oriented: You likely have a background in fitness, construction, warehousing, or coaching and enjoy being physically active throughout the day.
- Dependable Team Player: You value a "show up and do great work" mentality and thrive in professional, fast-paced environments.
- Professional Communicator: You maintain a positive, professional attitude with both staff and patients.
Requirements
- Fluency in Spanish is a non-negotiable requirement for this role to support our patient demographic.
- Consistent work history with a high value placed on punctuality and reliability.
- Physical stamina to stay on your feet, move equipment, and demonstrate physical tasks all day.
- No medical background required—we provide full on-the-job training for the right candidate.
Why Join Metropolitan Occupational Therapy?
- Competitive Pay: Hourly rates are based on experience and may be higher than posted for highly qualified candidates.
- Stability: Enjoy a consistent weekday schedule with no nights or weekends.
- Full Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package available for all full-time team members.
- Community Impact: Perform rewarding work helping members of our community return to their jobs and families.
- Personalized Culture: Join a clinic that values "One-on-One" care and treats patients with the compassion they deserve.
Market Strategy: Recruiting the Bilingual Worker
To find the right "Action-Oriented" bilingual candidate in the Silver Spring DMA, I recommend focusing outreach in the following corridors:
- Wheaton & Glenmont, MD: High density of Spanish-speaking professionals currently working in service or construction sectors who may be looking for a professional "indoor" healthcare career.
- Hyattsville & Langley Park, MD: Key talent pools for bilingual workers accustomed to physically demanding roles.
- Local Community Hubs: Utilize Spanish-language community boards and local "Work Centers" in Montgomery County to capture passive candidates.
