Shift: Full-Time – Evenings or Nights
Shift Options:

  • Evenings: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

  • Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
    Weekend Rotation & On-Call Required
    Position Status: Vacant (Backfill / Department Growth)

Facility Overview

A nationally recognized 420+ bed in Houston is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager for its Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

This high-volume, specialty-focused hospital delivers more than 800 babies per month and provides advanced maternal-fetal and neonatal services. The NICU offers the highest level of neonatal care and supports a rapidly growing patient population.

Unit Overview

  • 30-bed NICU

  • Level III/IV acuity

  • Oversees approximately 20–35 FTEs (Days, Evenings, and Nights combined)

  • Reports directly to the Director

  • Position open approximately 180 days due to backfill and unit growth

Position Summary

The Nurse Manager – NICU assists the Director in overseeing daily department operations while ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.

This leadership role ensures high-quality, evidence-based neonatal care through staff oversight, performance improvement initiatives, and clinical support. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility, strong leadership presence, and the ability to support weekend rotation and on-call requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in managing departmental operations and long-range planning

  • Ensure delivery of patient-centered neonatal care based on the nursing process

  • Monitor and evaluate clinical outcomes and performance metrics

  • Coordinate department participation in Performance Improvement and Quality initiatives

  • Provide direct clinical support and mentorship to nursing staff

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating care for neonatal patients

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies

  • Support staffing, scheduling, and team development

Required Qualifications

  • BSN required

  • Active Texas RN License or Multi-State Compact License (Texas licensure required within 60 days if compact)

  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification

  • Minimum 2+ years NICU experience required

  • Recent (within the last year) acute care NICU leadership experience required (Level III or IV NICU)

  • Minimum 2+ years management or Charge Nurse experience required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range:

    • Minimum: $45.79/hr

    • Midpoint: $57.23/hr

    • Maximum: $68.00/hr
      (Heavily based on years of experience)

  • Sign-On Bonus: $20,000

  • Relocation Assistance: Case-by-case basis
