Job Description

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support K-12 students within a dynamic school district in Camp Lejeune, NC. This position is itinerant, providing specialized instruction and support to students across multiple schools throughout the district. The role involves working closely with a highly supportive and collaborative team dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning environment that meets the unique needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in grades K-12
Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies accordingly
Provide training and resources to school staff and families to enhance communication and support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
Travel within the district to serve students at multiple school locations

Qualifications:

Certification or licensure in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or related field
Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work effectively in an itinerant role, traveling between schools
Commitment to student advocacy and inclusive education
