Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support K-12 students within a dynamic school district in Camp Lejeune, NC. This position is itinerant, providing specialized instruction and support to students across multiple schools throughout the district. The role involves working closely with a highly supportive and collaborative team dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning environment that meets the unique needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in grades K-12
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies accordingly
- Provide training and resources to school staff and families to enhance communication and support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Travel within the district to serve students at multiple school locations
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or related field
- Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively in an itinerant role, traveling between schools
- Commitment to student advocacy and inclusive education
