Minimum 1+ years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Support student success in an alternative elementary education setting as an Instructional Assistant (Para/IA) within a structured academic program in Kansas City, MO. This contract role is designed to provide hands-on educational support from early April through late May, reinforcing learning and fostering a positive environment for students in a specialized Connections Academy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with instructional activities tailored to an alternative education curriculum.
- Support students academically and behaviorally during classroom activities.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement lesson plans and adapt materials to meet student needs.
- Monitor and supervise students to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
- Facilitate small group or one-on-one instruction.
- Participate in team meetings and communicate student progress.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a paraeducator or instructional assistant, particularly in alternative education or elementary settings.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and support diverse learners.
- Patience, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering a positive educational environment.
- Ability to work the specified schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 7:45 AM - 4:00 PM on Fridays.
Location:
- Position based at Norfleet Elementary, a neighborhood school in Kansas City, MO, serving the Connections Academy alternative education program.
Schedule:
- Contract from approximately April 6 to May 22.
- Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.
