Description\n
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a 13-week night shift travel contract in Colorado, requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience and active BLS and NRP certifications.

- Level 2 NICU in an acute care hospital setting
- 6-bed NICU unit operating under an LDRP model
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1–3
- Common patient diagnoses include hypoglycemia, mild respiratory distress, phototherapy, prematurity, IV antibiotic administration, and neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS)
- NICU RNs attend both C-section and vaginal deliveries in a supportive role focused exclusively on the newborn
- May occasionally be asked to care for stable postpartum mothers and babies; training will be provided for those without prior experience caring for mothers
- EMR: Epic
- 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
- 6–9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
- Floating to a partner facility approximately 26 miles away is possible in low-census situations or based on staffing need
- On-call requirements are rare and typically only occur during low-census periods
- Scheduling is set by leadership on a 6-week rotating basis; travelers are expected to be flexible in filling gaps

- Active CO RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Current BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required; pending certifications will not be accepted
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Candidates must permanently reside at least 60 miles from the facility; a valid driver's license is required to verify permanent address
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

- Orientation consists of 1–3 shifts with a preceptor; candidates must be physically present in-state for the orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Staffing is acuity-based with a minimum of two clinical staff (RN or RN/tech) on the unit at all times
- The unit has both NICU and L&D charge RNs, with some RNs hired specifically into the NICU charge RN role
- Holiday rotation coverage may be required
- Blue hospital scrubs are provided
- All time-off requests must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; those previously employed through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Travelers are responsible for securing housing within the float zone for this position
