Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include performing diagnostic mammography procedures, assisting with biopsies and other diagnostic interventions, and providing critical diagnostic information to physicians. The ideal candidate should have advanced training and experience in mammography, with a strong understanding of breast anatomy and pathology.
- Lead diagnostic mammography procedures.
- Perform diagnostic mammograms to evaluate abnormal findings and assist in the diagnosis of breast conditions.
- Assist with invasive procedures, such as biopsies and aspirations, under the guidance of a physician.
- Train and mentor diagnostic mammographers.
- Participate in advanced diagnostic procedures and research.
- Evaluate, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic information to the attending physician.
- Ensure the patient’s comfort and safety during and after the mammography procedure.
- Maintain patient records and add medical notes related to the diagnostic mammography procedure.
- Perform equipment maintenance and sterilization to maintain the mammography machine in optimal condition.
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and ensuring patient comfort.
- Participate in quality assurance procedures to maintain high standards of practice.
- Stay informed about the latest developments and trends in diagnostic mammography.
- Utilize Epic electronic medical records (EMR) system for patient documentation and record-keeping.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology.
- Certification in Mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Certification in Mammography (M) and Breast Sonography (BS)
Prior Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Mammography Technologist
Special Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Mammography procedures and standards
- Extensive experience in diagnostic mammography.
- Strong understanding of breast anatomy and pathology.
- Excellent technical abilities and attention to detail.
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
