POPULATION SERVED

The position does involve direct patient care for a population of patients ages 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise are required to serve this population.

POSITION SUMMARY

A CT technologist uses diagnostic imaging equipment to help physicians diagnose illnesses and injuries and provides CT imaging services to patients.

Requirements:POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of a two-year accredited Radiology Technology program. Must have AART CT Certification. Must have State of California license in Radiology Technology and Fluoroscopy. Use of medical technologies, performing diagnostic procedures, informing others, quality focus, planning, technical understanding, people skills, dependability, creating a safe effective environment, radiologic technology, analyzing information.

JOB DUTIES

DIRECT PATIENT CARE

· To perform and complete diagnostic procedures accurately.

· To give patients an explanation of procedures to perform & acquire appropriate consent forms and paperwork.

· To follow protocol to assure no misadministration of radiolucent substances.

· To follow radiation safety protocol at all times.

· To provide care appropriate to the age of the population served. INDIRECT PATIENT CARE

· To complete assignments on time and utilize time effectively.

· To support cost containment efforts of the Medical Center through conservation of supplies and care of equipment.

· To clean CT room and other supporting equipment. COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

· To work at establishing good rapport and working relationship with all staff.

· To complete the appropriate documentation.

· To communicate in English in patient care areas.

· To report any unusual occurrences, situation, or hazards to appropriate personnel.

· To report any malfunctioning of equipment.

· Able to work independently within scope of assigned tasks with minimal instructions.

· Consults with Director, Manager, Supervisors, and Radiologists. SAFETY

· To adhere to safety factors when administering ionizing radiation.

· To demonstrate knowledge of safety, infection control, and emergency policies and procedures.

· To incorporate CORE values into a daily routine. ADHERENCE TO HOSPITAL/DEPARTMENTAL PROCEDURES

· To adhere to the general hospital/departmental policies as they pertain to dress code, safety, Timekeeping, and attendance.

· To comply with mandatory meetings, health evaluation, CPR certification, and other credential requirements.

A. Accident/Injury Reporting – Reports any accidents, injuries, and unsafe equipment and conditions to supervisor by the end of the shift and reports any pre-existing conditions as identified by the ADA.

B. Unsafe Conditions – Immediately reports and corrects, if possible, unsafe conditions or equipment.

C. Workplace Standards – Compiles with relevant regulations, standards and policies governing safe workplace environment (OSHA, Accreditation, etc.)

D. Safety Techniques – Maintains current knowledge of all aspects of the facility’s safety program by attending safety-related training as mandated upon hire and thereafter as required by facility.

E. Modified Work – Accepts modified work assignments after receiving the physician’s release to return to work following an accident/ injury.

F. Follows Prescribed/Recommended Treatment – Follows the prescribed/recommended treatment given by treating physician(s) after an accident/injury.

V. EDUCATION – Participates in required in-services and educational programs on an ongoing basis.

VI. ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY – Follows all facility guidelines outlining standards of attendance and punctuality. Responsible for reporting to and completing work at assigned times.
