Automation Engineer | Walker, MI

Salary Range: $80,000 - $125,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement industrial automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and robotics.
  • Program and configure PLCs (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and industrial robots for manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and optimize HMI/SCADA applications for operator control, data acquisition, and visualization.
  • Integrate new automation solutions with existing manufacturing equipment and IT infrastructure.
  • Perform troubleshooting, debugging, and preventative maintenance on automation systems to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, quality, and safety through automation.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for automation systems, programs, and standard operating procedures.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA system development.
  • Demonstrated experience with industrial robotics (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka, ABB) and machine vision systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in the design, implementation, and commissioning of automation solutions within a production environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical field.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
  • Proficiency in data analysis for OEE, predictive maintenance, or process optimization.
  • Familiarity with IIoT platforms and cloud integration for operational technology data.
  • Knowledge of OT cybersecurity principles and best practices.
