Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced and results-driven Quality Manager to lead and oversee all quality assurance and quality control activities within our client's 24/7, unionized automotive manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for ensuring products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance performance, reduce defects, and support operational excellence. This role is located to the southeast of Indianapolis within commuting distance.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with deep knowledge of automotive quality systems, problem-solving methodologies, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the plant Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with automotive standards and customer requirements.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Oversee incoming, in-process, and final product inspections to ensure consistent product quality.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone analysis.
- Manage customer quality concerns, warranty issues, and corrective action responses.
- Lead internal and external audits, including customer and third-party audits.
- Develop and monitor key quality metrics (KPIs) including scrap, rework, PPM, and customer complaints.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to improve processes and reduce variation.
- Supervise and develop quality team members, including engineers, technicians, and inspectors.
- Support APQP, PPAP submissions, control plans, and FMEA development.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the organization
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or related technical field (required).
- Minimum of 5+ years of quality leadership experience within the automotive manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of automotive quality standards including IATF 16949 and core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA).
- Experience leading audits and managing customer quality requirements.
- Proven experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with quality data analysis and reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma certification.
- Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
- Familiarity with ERP and quality management software systems.
