Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Telemetry (Float Pool)
Location: Hyannis, MA
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 36 hours/week
Shift: Evening/Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 12-hour shifts)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Rotating holidays
Employment Type: Contract | Onsite

Position Overview

A reputable healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Medical/Surgical Telemetry Float Pool. This role requires flexibility to work across multiple units including cardiac, oncology, surgical, and orthopedic settings while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
  • Administer medications and monitor patient responses
  • Provide care to Med/Surg and telemetry patients across multiple units
  • Float between departments and affiliated facilities as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Serve as a resource and assist with staff orientation and training
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and facility policies
  • Utilize electronic health record and nursing informatics systems

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Medical/Surgical experience in an acute care setting required
  • Telemetry experience required

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Certifications & Licensure

  • Active Massachusetts RN license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Pharmacology exam (must be passed prior to start)
  • Basic Arrhythmia exam (must be passed prior to start)

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility to float between units and facilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently

Preferred Qualifications (Unit-Specific)

Cardiac Unit:

  • ACLS certification
  • Strong telemetry experience
  • Experience with post-cardiac intervention and cardiac surgery patients

Oncology/Stroke/Palliative Unit:

  • Chemotherapy/biotherapy certification preferred

Surgical & Dialysis Unit:

  • CAPD and drug certifications preferred
  • Experience with dialysis and ventilated patients preferred

Ortho/Neuro/Post-Op Unit:

  • Orthopedic certification preferred
