Job DescriptionDo you love legal research and writing and want to get paid for it? We have an opening for a law clerk position and we need top talent! You will research case law and prepare memoranda on a variety of legal issues, which will confirm or deny the citations in an attorney’s legal brief in an effort to prepare for trial. Other job duties may include assisting attorneys with drafting documents such as subpoenas, motions, and pleadings as well as coordinating with paralegals on court filings and calendaring important dates to keep files accurate. Your attention to detail and strong commitment to ethics will shine in your work product. 22 - 26 hourly
Responsibilities:
- Create legal memoranda outlining results of research to help plan the best strategy for success for court proceedings
- Prepare the initial drafts of various documents, such as pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests/responses
- Conduct legal research to confirm cited legal authority for judges and attorneys
- Organize and maintain files to ensure information is up to date and deadlines are properly docketed
- Consult with legal experts, converse with clients, and interview witnesses to prepare for trial
Qualifications:
- Excellent writing skills and communication skills to participate in oral arguments effectively
- Minimum one year of experience working in the legal industry
- Should have great attention to detail and a strong work ethic
- Take or have already successfully passed state bar exam
- Law school student with an undergraduate degree or recent law school graduate
