Job Title: Building Automation Systems (BAS) / DDC Controls Engineer
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Salt Lake Intermountain Region
Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 annually, dependent on experience and qualifications
Job Summary:
Join a dynamic and growing industry focused on energy efficiency and sustainability. As a BAS/DDC Controls Engineer you will design, program and assist in the maintenance of advanced building automation systems which optimize HVAC performance and reduce energy consumption ensuring customer expectations are exceeded. This role combines fieldwork, engineering, programming, and customer support to deliver innovative solutions which reduce energy consumption and maintain building comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering & Programming: Design, program, and facilitate the testing of BAS systems across a broad range of platforms e.g., Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls, Honeywell and Alerton to meet energy efficiency and operational goals.
- System Commissioning: Oversee start-up, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of HVAC control systems, including rooftop units (RTUs), VAV systems, boilers, chillers, and related equipment.
- Customer Support: Provide technical support, training, and maintenance services to clients, facility teams and company technicians.
- Collaboration: Work with project managers, HVAC service teams, and external contractors to coordinate projects and implement energy-saving strategies.

- Approximately 85% of the work will be remote.
Requirements:
- Experience: 2-6+ years with DDC, BAS programming using Tridium N4, Alerton, Johnson Controls and Honeywell.
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or related field) preferred; equivalent experience may substitute.
- Skills: Strong troubleshooting, programming (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks), and ability to read mechanical/electrical schematics. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Other: Valid driver's license, willingness to travel occasionally, and availability for on-call support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications Tridium N4 TCP, Alerton Programming Certification, etc.
- Experience with fault detection, data analytics, equipment sequencing and or healthcare facility systems.
- Proven track record of managing or supporting BAS/DDC projects from design to completion, including interpreting control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequence of operations. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., engineers, facility managers, contractors) to deliver energy-efficient solutions.
