A 515-bed hospital in Pensacola is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join its CARF-accredited physical rehabilitation program. This facility is recognized as the area’s only comprehensive CARF-accredited rehab hospital and is part of a larger health system offering advanced services in cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, stroke care, and women’s health.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative, patient-focused rehabilitation team dedicated to helping individuals regain function, independence, and quality of life.
Position Overview
The Occupational Therapist works as part of an interdisciplinary care team to evaluate patients, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver hands-on therapeutic interventions. Care is centered on improving functional ability and supporting patients through recovery in both acute and post-acute stages.
This role involves close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other rehabilitation professionals to ensure coordinated care and effective progress toward patient goals.
Key Responsibilities
• Evaluate patients’ functional abilities and rehabilitation needs
• Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to support recovery and independence
• Monitor and document patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members on care planning
• Educate patients and families to support recovery and safe transitions of care
• Support continuity of care through discharge planning and coordination with other providers
• Provide guidance and support to therapy assistants and students when applicable
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy required
• Active Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) state license required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
• At least 1 year of experience preferred; new graduates considered
• Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and patient-centered care skills
