Job DescriptionPayroll SpecialistLHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist with 4 years of experience working in a similar role. This is a Temp to Perm opportunity, located in Hartford, Connecticut. Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for U.S. and Canadian employees on a bi-weekly and monthly basis using systems like ADP Workforce Now.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including onboarding details, terminations, compensation updates, and tax withholding information.
- Ensure full compliance with payroll regulations across federal, state/provincial, and local jurisdictions in both countries.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health coverage, retirement plans, and various leave policies.
- Coordinate with external benefits providers to handle enrollments, updates, and terminations efficiently.
- Reconcile payroll and benefits data with internal accounting and HR platforms to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Address employee questions related to compensation, deductions, and benefits in a timely and professional manner.
- Generate payroll reports for Finance and HR teams to support planning and analysis.
- Support year-end tax processes, including preparation and distribution of W-2s, T4s, and other required filings.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding tasks that relate to payroll setup and benefits transitions.
- Stay current on payroll legislation and tax code changes in both the U.S. and Canada, and implement updates as needed.
- Manage third-party deductions, such as garnishments and child support orders, ensuring proper documentation and processing.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll transactions to maintain accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with HR on employee classifications, ensuring correct designation of staff and contractors.
- Safeguard confidential payroll and employee data, maintaining strict data privacy standards.
- Provide documentation and support during audits, both internal and external, related to payroll and benefits.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, must have US and Canada experience
