Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care / Step-Down Unit position requiring at least 1.5 years of recent equivalent experience, with a NH or compact RN license and a day/night rotation schedule.
Details
- 48-bed step-down unit specializing in cardiology, electrophysiology (EP), and cardiac surgical patients
- Patient population includes cardiothoracic surgical (pre and post-op), CHF, vascular, pulmonary hypertension, and telemetry patients
- Patient ratios: 1:3 on days, 1:4-5 on nights depending on acuity
- Day/night rotation, 36 hours per week
- Step-down procedures include hemodynamic monitoring, invasive BP monitoring via arterial lines, BiPAP/CPAP, low-dose pressors, vasoactive meds, inotropes, external pacers, epicardial wires, and TR bands
- Med/surg-level skills utilized include chest tubes, trachs/laryngectomies, telemetry, complex wounds, central line care and maintenance (including blood draws), and drips such as Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, and amiodarone
Requirements
- Active NH RN license or compact RN license required; proof of state residency required for compact license holders
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent, equivalent step-down or progressive care experience required
- Recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 trauma experience within the last 2 years required
- Experience with vasoactive drips, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-surgical patient management required
- Two references from managers required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
- Care responsibilities include managing post-surgical lines, tubes, and drains, as well as complex wound care and tracheostomy management
