Scale House Clerk / Operator
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Gravel Plant Scale House Clerk to support day-to-day operations at our aggregate materials facility. This position plays a key administrative and operational role by managing truck ticketing, verifying materials, and maintaining accurate records for incoming and outgoing loads. The ideal candidate will be organized, customer-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, outdoor-oriented environment. Experience in construction, aggregates, or trucking logistics ispreferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Responsibilities
- Load Verification: Confirm materials (gravel, sand, crushed rock, etc.) match order details and truck specifications.
- Ticketing and Documentation: Generate scale tickets for each transaction and maintain records for billing and inventory.
- Administrative Responsibilities
- Data Entry & Record Keeping: Input load data into digital systems or manual logs. Maintaindaily operational reports and documentation.
- Customer Service: Greet drivers and contractors professionally. Respond to inquiries regarding deliveries, billing, or scheduling.
- Inventory Control Support: Track materials leaving the yard and communicate any discrepancies to plant or yard supervisors.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Follow DOT and OSHA regulations regarding vehicle weights and material handling.
- Safety Awareness: Monitor the scale house and surrounding area for safe work practices;assist with incident documentation when needed.
- Teamwork & Communication
- Coordination: Communicate clearly with plant operators, loader operators, dispatchers, and truck drivers.
- End-of-Day Reconciliation: Reconcile scale tickets, inventory, and transactions; submitreports and any on-site payments collected.
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of experience in construction, aggregate, trucking, or related industries (preferred)
- Proficient in basic math, data entry, and general administrative tasks
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Familiarity with ERP or ticketing software systems (training provided if needed)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes dusty or noisy environment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
