Job Summary:
The Operations Installation Manager is responsible for overseeing all flooring installation operations, warehouse functions, material handling, and field execution for commercial projects. This role manages installation teams, coordinates scheduling and logistics, ensures quality and safety compliance, and maintains accountability for proper product handling and installation in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and company standards. The Operations Manager works closely with project management, sales, and ownership to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and executed correctly from delivery through final installation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and lead Senior Flooring Mechanics, Junior Mechanics, Apprentices, Delivery Associates, and subcontractors.
- Train and mentor personnel on installation techniques, manufacturer requirements, safety protocols, and company procedures.
- Monitor team performance, productivity, and workmanship; provide ongoing feedback and corrective action.
- Promote accountability, professionalism, and jobsite discipline.
2. Project Planning, Scheduling & Execution
- Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of all flooring installation projects.
- Review new projects in Monday.com and assign supervisors, crews, and resources.
- Maintain a master labor schedule across all active projects.
- Adjust schedules proactively to address material availability, site conditions, weather, or GC changes.
3. Product Compliance & Manufacturer Requirements
- Ensure all flooring products are delivered, stored, acclimated, and installed strictly in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, specifications, and written instructions.
- Verify installation methods, adhesives, moisture limits, substrate preparation, and environmental conditions meet manufacturer requirements.
- Prevent deviations from manufacturer guidelines that could result in product failure or warranty issues.
- Maintain documentation supporting manufacturer compliance when required.
4. Labor & Cost Management
.- Price labor for complex or large-scale projects.
- Monitor labor hours, productivity, and subcontractor usage.
- Identify inefficiencies or potential overruns and implement corrective actions.
5. Delivery, Storage, Staging & Logistics
- Oversee delivery scheduling and coordination for all project materials.
- Ensure proper receiving, inspection, storage, and protection of materials in the warehouse and on jobsites.
- Coordinate staging of materials so products are available, protected, and ready for installation when required.
- Prevent damage, loss, contamination, or improper handling of materials prior to installation
6. Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular inspections of installations for compliance with specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company standards.
- Address punch list items and corrective work promptly.
7. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce OSHA, GC, and company safety standards.
- Ensure PPE usage and safe material handling practices.
8. Scope Control & Change Management
- Identify out-of-scope work and ensure it is documented and communicated
Prevent unauthorized additional work from being performed.
9. Communication & Coordination
- Serve as an escalation point for operational and jobsite issues.
- Maintain professional relationships with general contractors and site supervisors.
10. Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Utilize Monday.com to manage scheduling, assignments, and execution.
- Develop and improve SOPs for installation, material handling, and job closeout.
- Recommend process improvements to leadership.
