Summary

Hopmeadow Nursery School, a small play-based nursery school in Simsbury, is seeking a part time co-teachers for our 5 year old PreK class.
This is a part-time position: M Th 8:30-1:15, T, W F 8:30 -12:15, working with a group of up to 13 children with a co-teacher.

More hours are available 12-1:15 for Lunch Bunch/ extended days.

Duties

  • Work with Co-teacher to plan and implement developmental appropriate, play based learning experiences to meet the physical, emotional and intellectual needs of each child;
  • Take initiative, and work as a team member;
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators in the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum;
  • Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play;
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, art and music;
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interest;.
  • Arrange indoor and outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety;
  • Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guests and parents, or other experiential activities;
  • Work with Co-teacher to observe and evaluate children's development, behavior, and social development;
  • Develop and maintain positive on-going communication with parents in a sensitive and responsive manner;
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs;
  • Maintain student information in a confidential manner;
  • Maintain an orderly, safe, healthy, inviting environment;
  • Ensure appropriate classroom behavior management,
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior, support children by providing positive guidance and redirection;
  • Participate in training and other professional development activities to maintain and improve professional competence;.
  • Enforce all administration policies;.
  • Attend staff meetings;



Requirements

  • must be 21 years of age
  • previous childcare experience
  • 2 professional references



Nice To Haves

  • Administration of Medication trained
  • First Aid and CPR trained
  • CDA or 12 college credits in Early Chidhood
  • Head Teacher certificate from the Office of Early Childhood.
