Position Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will play an essential role in supporting providers, patients, and families in the delivery of quality pediatric healthcare. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and passionate about working with children and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and families, obtain and document medical histories, vital signs, and developmental screenings.
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, immunizations, and diagnostic tests.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and proper supply levels.
- Administer vaccines and medications as ordered, following safety and documentation protocols.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, collect specimens, and process point-of-care testing.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential electronic medical records (EHR) using [EHR system name].
- Educate patients and families on health maintenance, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Coordinate patient referrals, prescription refills, and prior authorizations.
- Support front office operations as needed, including patient check-in, scheduling, and answering calls.
- Adhere to infection control, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential through an accredited program (AAMA, AMT, or equivalent).
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Prior experience in a pediatric setting preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children and families.
- Proficient in electronic medical records; experience with [EHR system name] a plus.
- Ability to multitask, work efficiently under pressure, and maintain a professional, caring demeanor.
- Knowledge of pediatric growth and development, vaccination schedules, and common childhood illnesses.
