A full-time Registered Nurse opportunity is available in the Cardiovascular Operating Room at a 404-bed tertiary care Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center in Kissimmee, Florida. The hospital is home to a renowned Heart & Vascular Institute and Graduate Medical Education Program, offering advanced cardiovascular services in a collaborative, high-acuity surgical environment.
The Open Heart/CVOR Registered Nurse provides specialized perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and open-heart surgical procedures. This role includes scrubbing and circulating during complex cardiac surgeries, performing comprehensive pre- and post-operative assessments, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are prepared and managed throughout each procedure. Working closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the operating room team, the nurse plays a critical role in delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered surgical care.
Responsibilities:

Provide perioperative nursing care for open-heart and cardiovascular surgical procedures.

Scrub and circulate during cardiovascular surgeries.

Perform thorough pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments.

Maintain sterile technique and ensure the integrity of the surgical field.

Prepare, organize, and manage surgical instruments and equipment.

Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and operating room staff throughout procedures.

Monitor patient safety and respond appropriately to changes in condition during surgery.

Complete accurate documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:

Minimum of one year of Open Heart/CVOR Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting required.

Active Florida Registered Nurse license or approved multistate compact RN license required (Florida licensure within 60 days if applicable).

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required.

CNOR certification preferred.

Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced cardiovascular surgical environment.

7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

On-call approximately one day per week and one weekend per month, based on departmental needs
