Job Description

This contract-to-hire Warehouse Worker / Inventory Clerk role supports a growing warehouse and inventory operation at a stable, well-established company. You will spend most of your time managing inventory and working in computer systems, with some hands-on warehouse tasks such as organizing and putting away items. This position offers a strong mix of data entry, inventory control, and physical work in a relaxed, non-micromanaged environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inventory activities, including tracking, updating, and maintaining accurate inventory records in computer systems.
  • Complete data entry tasks in Excel and other inventory or ERP systems to ensure accurate and timely updates of stock levels and product information.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with inventory audits to identify discrepancies and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Pick, pack, label, and stage inventory for orders in accordance with written procedures and work instructions.
  • Scan inventory and documentation as needed to support tracking and traceability within warehouse systems.
  • Organize and put away items in the warehouse, ensuring products are stored in the correct locations and are easy to locate.
  • Support the operation and organization of a newly added testing room and take a leading role in its day-to-day activities.
  • Assist with handling commercial and industrial circuit breakers, including inventorying items purchased from demolition sites and preparing them for refurbishment once sold.
  • Follow established procedures and work instructions to maintain quality, safety, and consistency in all warehouse tasks.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, shipping, and shop teams and cross-train to assist in other warehouse functions as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Experience performing inventory-related tasks in a warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
  • Proficiency with inventory activities such as picking, packing, labeling, staging, and organizing stock.
  • Ability to perform accurate data entry, including working with Excel for inventory and tracking purposes.
  • Familiarity with cycle counts, inventory audits, and inventory tracking processes.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions consistently and accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to identify and resolve basic inventory discrepancies or issues.
  • Willingness to cross-train and assist in a variety of warehouse functions as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using ERP systems, inventory software, or warehouse management systems.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics setting with inventory control responsibilities.
  • Comfort working with scanning equipment and other common warehouse tools.
  • Interest in learning about commercial and industrial circuit breakers and aftermarket/secondary products.
  • Openness to obtaining forklift certification provided by the company.

Work Environment

The role is fully on-site in a warehouse environment operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The company handles commercial and industrial circuit breakers purchased from demolition sites, which are kept in inventory until sold and then refurbished. The work includes time in a newly added testing room, where this role will take the lead, as well as general warehouse and inventory areas. The business focuses on aftermarket and secondary breakers, including obsolete models, providing a unique and varied product mix. The company has an approximate staff of 50 employees with dedicated leadership overseeing warehouse, shipping, and shop functions. Uniforms are provided, and the environment is described as relaxed and structured around regular daytime hours with no required overtime.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
