Job Description

A Manufacturing Engineer, is responsible for designing, implementing and reviewing the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process. Their duties include researching automation techniques, testing new systems for efficiency and planning factory layouts to optimize production. You will be tasked with ensuring the quality of procured components. This will include the control of critical dimensions and tolerances, ensuring that all parts are manufactured to the specification and stock levels are maintained as required.

Duties and Responsibilities of Manufacturing Engineer

  • Develop assembly documentation, procedures, and work instructions to improve quality and efficiency on the production floor.
  • Work closely with design engineering to implement drawing and documentation changes.
  • Train others using written work instructions for manufacturing and processes
  • Assume leadership responsibility for projects and drive actions to improve processes
  • Analyze the cost of raw material and overall production cost to suggest methods of cost savings and reduce the cost of labor and materials.
  • Working with the manufacturing department to understand the technical concepts that should be looked after during the manufacturing process of the products
  • Quality assurance to make sure that the product meets the quality constraints
  • Responsible for first article inspections and production reviews of new products.
  • Involved in root cause analysis and corrective actions as it relates to process defects

Requirements

  • 3-5 years work experience as a Manufacturing engineer
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as strong interpersonal skills; the ability to establish solid working relationships with employees, vendors, technical staff, managers, and peers.
  • Experience with ERP systems, MS Word, Excel, email, and CAD systems.
  • Extensive blueprint reading experience, Including interpreting complex assemblies.
  • Able to work independently, but also in a team environment and share information with others.
  • Familiarity with FAI (First Article Inspections) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
  • Collaborate with Design team in FAI and PPAP activities.
  • Support Manufacturing Process Reviews and controlled builds as required.
  • Experience with quality inspection techniques and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to quickly analyze a situation and follow a systematic approach to problem resolution.
