Job Title: Phlebotomist - Brooklyn
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced phlebotomist with a minimum of 2 years of recent professional experience in phlebotomy. The ideal candidate will be proficient with straight needles and possess strong communication skills. A high school diploma or GED is required. Reliability, punctuality, and strong customer service skills are essential for this role.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously to patients.
- Demonstrate the use of straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
- Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
- Ensure specimen integrity by following specific protocol procedures during transport.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency in specimen collection, phlebotomy, patient care, and venipuncture.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent communication abilities.
Work Environment
The position is based in Brooklyn, where the phlebotomist will perform 30-50 blood draws per day. The location operates with a team of three people. The work schedule is as follows: Monday/Tuesday from 12pm to 8:30pm, Wednesday/Thursday from 9am to 5:30pm, Friday from 10am to 5:30pm, and every other Saturday from 9am to 1pm.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
