Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired by supporting students with visual impairments across a vibrant district near Triangle, VA. This contract opportunity invites you to leverage your expertise while enjoying the flexibility to design your own schedule. You'll collaborate with staff to provide both direct service and consultative support, reaching learners from PreK through 12th grade who have a wide range of needs—from occasional check-ins to ongoing, more intensive services. Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Virginia Department of Education teaching certification (TVI)
- Experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a school setting
- Comfortable serving a diverse caseload and adapting instruction to various age groups
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Willingness to promptly complete required credentialing, including VA Dept. of Social Services check and TB test
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide vision services to a growing number of students district-wide, both in-person and virtually
- Develop and implement individualized instructional plans for each student
- Collaborate with IEP teams, classroom teachers, and families to ensure student progress
- Conduct regular assessments and consults, adjusting approaches as student needs evolve
- Travel between school sites if necessary (exact number of schools assigned TBD)
