Salary: $61,000 – $77,000
Status: Non-Exempt

A leading Washington, DC-based law firm is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Billing Coordinator to join its Accounting Department. This role supports attorneys and leadership by managing complex client billing processes in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

This is a remote position; however, candidates must be local to the DC metro area.

Position Overview

The Billing Coordinator will manage a portfolio of client billing matters, ensuring accuracy, compliance with client guidelines, and timely submission of invoices. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, deadline-driven setting and brings strong communication skills, exceptional follow-through, and a commitment to client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of client billing and provide status updates to attorneys and management
  • Ensure compliance with individual client billing guidelines
  • Monitor and manage e-billing submissions, including tracking rejections and short payments
  • Revise and resubmit rejected or short-paid invoices
  • Analyze, coordinate, and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Process client bills and confirm appropriate edits to draft invoices
  • Review finalized invoices for quality and accuracy
  • Ensure monthly billing is completed within firm deadlines
  • Assist attorneys with budgets, reporting, and special client requests
  • Utilize accounting systems to track client-specific billing requirements
  • Maintain proactive communication with attorneys and internal departments
  • Uphold strict confidentiality regarding client and firm information

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in billing, accounting, or finance (law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and billing/accounting systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong customer service approach
  • Highly motivated, flexible, and proactive
