Position Summary:

  • The Hospital Admissions Coordinator assists with the coordination of intakes and assessments for short term hospitalization of clients. The job is fast paced and requires accuracy and attention to detail. The Coordinator will be a part of the KVC Admissions Department, part of the treatment team, and may be a primary contact with the health plan. The Coordinator will have contact with physicians, nurses, and UR to ensure timely, accurate, and complete assessments are performed on children and youth, and making appropriate referrals for placement and services based on the assessment. Will be responsible for completing intake and assessment documentation with new patients and their families. Must possess outstanding customer service skills.

Schedule:

  • Hybrid; Schedules available: Saturday and Sunday from 3pm-11pm or Saturday from 11pm-7am on Sunday.
  • Position will be fully remote after at least a two-week training!

Education:

  • Associates degree and one year experience in a human services field required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field (i.e. Social Work, Education, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Human Relations) or Criminal Justice preferred

Experience:

  • Experience working with economically disadvantaged, vulnerable or at-risk youth and/or young adults. Prefer a minimum of two years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Certification/Licensure:

  • At least 21 years old
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Valid Auto Insurance

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Accepts and processes appropriate intake calls, walk-ins, and referrals brought to the KVC Psychiatric Hospital
  • Ensures children and youth referred to KVC receive timely, accurate and complete intake and assessment
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality about child/youth/family information
  • Frequent telephonic interface with health plans; maintain accurate recording of information and insuring that this is provided to others in an accurate fashion
  • Gathers data, compiles information, and completely and accurately (including grammar and spelling) enters information into the data management system
  • Understands, is knowledgeable, and remains up-to-date on JIAC and KVC policies and procedures, KVC programs and services and outside community agencies
  • Communicates effectively and respectfully both orally and in writing with children/youth, family members, staff, other service agencies, and the general public; as well, uses strong active listening skills
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Proficient in agency computer applications
  • Maintains cleanliness and neatness of KVC waiting areas and work area, including organization of toys, games, books, blankets and other items on the shelves, wiping off tables and chairs several times during the day, and filing of information in appropriate file
  • Regularly attends monthly staff meeting, or reviews minutes of meetings to remain up-to-date; attends staff conferences and in-service training as required or needed
  • Notifies Supervisor or Director verbally within the required amount of time of a reportable condition, critical incident, accident and/or injury of staff or child/youth, or investigation that involves the programs supervised
  • Discuss and/or obtain advance approval from Supervisor to attend training, submit check requests, vacation requests, and reimbursement requests
