Gooch Thermal is seeking multiple welder/fitters for our ASME Code pressure vessel shop in Whitehall, PA (Lehigh County).

Job Description
Prep, fit-up, welding and assembly of piping and plate materials of thicknesses from 12 ga (0.105”) to 4” for the fabrication of spiral heat exchangers made from carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys.

Skills / Qualifications

• Perform ASME Code compliant welds using MIG (Pulse/Spray/RMD), TIG, & FCAW processes
• Read and interpret drawings, weld symbols and weld procedures.
• Read a tape measure.
• Basic math skills required
• Willingness to cross-train in other areas/departments as needed including stud welding, blasting and assembly
• Ability to work with hand and power tools common to welding trade such as grinders, torches, plasma cutters, mag drills, welding positioners, etc.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes
• Ability to pass weld tests
• Pipe & plate welding experience
• Set up & operation of welding machines

Experience

• Technical training or equivalent experience required
• Stainless steel welding experience required
• Pressure vessel shop experience a plus
• Will train the right candidate
• Minimum of 3 – 5 years of related experience

Requirements

• Candidates must pass 2” SCH 80 CS 6G pipe & ½” CS 2G plate test
• First Shift: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Mon. – Thurs.)
• Ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs
